Homelessness can be caused by many factors: Some have lost their jobs and homes, mental disorders, addicts, parolees, abused spouses, veterans and teens.
Pets provide a deep comfort. Pets are non-judgmental. They are loyal. They provide warmth and security. The homeless get a type of normalcy by providing food and water for their pets. In some cases, they provide them with reality.
Some homeless would sacrifice their own food for their pets. Then there is the protection factor. Living on the streets is dangerous especially for women and the disabled.
For many on the streets these animals provide them with security from other homeless or from those that discriminate against the homeless with beatings or from others who may steal their modest possessions.
Spay or neuter is the only permanent, 100-percent effective method of birth control for dogs and cats and a proven way to reduce the vast numbers of animals who are born only to die prematurely and without a family who loves them.
Female dogs no longer have a heat cycle; this eliminates the attraction and approach of unwanted attention by male dogs. Roaming is greatly reduced; male dogs, especially those used for security, are less likely to wander off an owner’s property if they do not have the hormone drive to pursue a female in heat.
A full one third of Americans were living paycheck to paycheck, and if they loss their job, they would not be able to make their next rent or mortgage payment.
A 71 years old Vietnam veteran, Pete May, asked for help with a travel trailer to live in. His "pre-historic make shift "home was falling apart and rain can pour down forcefully.
Pete was cold and wet. His "stove" was no longer working. HIS DOGS ARE HIS ONLY FAMILY. Pete suffers PTSD and he could not handle the challenges of dealing with VA to get help.
We contacted many "Veteran nonprofit groups" on his behalf to no avail.
We raised fund and bought a 31 ft travel trailer for him to live in. We got his trailer equipped with solar panels, propane tanks, so he can have hot water to shower, cook,
heater, etc.. Video of Pete home

We cannot help all fire survivors, but we can help Jodi with the help of a Truckee group. Many families lost their homes in the fire. 86 people died. Over 50,000 people were displayed. The Camp Fire tore through her Paradise town in Northern California and it's the costliest wildfires.
